I don’t have to bill straight Medicaid for WIC very often, but I do have a few foster kids that have straight Medicaid. I haven’t been paid for any of them. Anyone who bills straight Medicaid willing to give any advice? What codes are you using?

They aren’t in the ShowMe Healthy Kids program, are they? If so, you bill HSHP. I bill straight Medicaid the very same way I bill the other programs, using Z0289, 99211 EP. You do have to show the NPI for the performing AND ordering provider. Hope this helps.

Just out of curiosity… we aren’t billing anything for WIC to Medicaid… does anyone have a resource or care to explain to this newbee what we might be missing out on?

We don’t bill for WIC either. We have heard different things from different state people stating it might be considered double dipping so we decided we didn’t want to take that risk.

Webster County Health Unit doesn’t bill for WIC either, for the same reasons as Kayla Langford. Our information came from our own WIC coordinator.
