We always check for eligibility on day of service. Three times now, UHC Managed Care has paid the claim, then requested a repayment for services about 2 months AFTER the claim was filed. When discussed with them on phone, they state they can’t keep their online eligibility updated, so once they audit some claims, they discover the client did not have active coverage, so they then ask for repayment. I told them it was their error, and therefore not on them. They, of course, disagree.

Has anyone else had issues with United Healthcare requesting repayment for services rendered?

I have had the same problem. We have refunded them and then they went ahead and re-cooped the money out of one of our checks. When I asked them about it I was advised that I would have to jump through all these hoops to get the money back. I do not refund them any longer. They can re-coop the money. It is ridiculous.

Franklin County Health Department does not send checks to UHC any longer as well.

Watch out, Missouri care is pulling the same kind of stuff here recently. In the letter that I received, if you read close it says something to the fact of ” If no check is received in 60 days, the funds will be withdrawn from the next Remittance.” great, super! Less work for all of us- With that being said we just hang out and wait for the refund to be taken out of the remit.
