Interested in where other agencies are in doing fit testing? Ruth Bock, Gasconade County

    Ruth,

It is actually not done at our agency. However, I think if any of the medical staff may have to do home visits to TB patients it would be very important that we carry these. Is this a requirement by your dept.?

There are some upcoming conference calls r/t to fit testing – respiratory protection. Respiratory protection is recommended for contact with patients who have active TB. We are in the process of updating our policy and doing the fit testing is not that hard to do – but would like guidance / proper training. We have had it done at the local hospital. The OSHA website / Respiratory protection is a good resource.
