Good morning, We are looking at limiting our religious exemptions to certain days/times and requiring appointments. Does anyone have a Board of Health policy addressing this? Also, do any of you charge for an exemption appointment? We cannot charge for the card, but we could potentially implement a fee for the consultation/nurse visit. And lastly, do any of you refuse to provide exemptions cards and where do you refer parents? I tried to look on the DHSS website to see if I could find a place for them to request one, but was unsuccessful. Thanks for you help!

We don’t do religious exemptions any more we refer them to following:

Call 1-800-219-3224 or contact Bureau of Immunization Assessment and Assurance, PO Box 570, Jefferson City MO 65102-0570.

Just give the Bureau of Imm a heads up if you are going to quit doing them.

We don’t charge or make appointmemts but they do have to talk to nurse. The nurse tries to cut through the “fake news” and inform them of the State Law.

We would like to quit doing exemptions entirely. Have any other health departments done this? If so, how did you navigate your conversations with your board and the school districts?
