We had 3 patients scheduled today- they stated no insurance. Checked Showmevax and observed recent immunizations entered by Medicaid. Checked Emomed and patient has medicaid.
1st scenario- grandmother brought patient, didn’t know
2nd scenario- mom did not know that they had coverage still
3rd scenario- TBD
What are your processes? It is against federal laws to charge medicaid patients administration costs for VFC vaccines. Do you take the patients word that they are uninsured and just document that? Do you check Emomed for all uninsured VFC eligible children? What do you do?WE CHECK MOHEALTH NET, AND WE LET THEM KNOW THEY HAVE ACTIVE MEDICAID. ALSO I PRINT OUT THAT SHEET AND GIVE IT TO THEM.
We check every client that states they are uninsured via EMOMED to verify. It is surprising how many clients do not realize they have women’s health benefits or that children have coverage.
We check every patient via Emomed/Showmevax to verify insurance eligibility. I agree, you would be surprised how many individuals don’t know they have Medicaid coverage.
