I know I am probably beating a dead horse here guys – but I am just trying to figure out the best way to bill for these.

I was reviewing our ICD-10 codes – and I am confused on why we need to have 3 different codes to bill this.

We are using z130 for children, z3201 for prenatals, and z391 for post partum.

z130 states it is screening for iron deficiency anemia – no age limit
z3201 states it is for encounter for preg test, result positive
z391 states it is for lactating education and/or breastfeeding

I am wondering if everyone is using three different codes – and why we are using a preg test code for hemoglobins.

    2018 ICD-10-CM Diagnosis Code Z13.0
Encounter for screening for diseases of the blood and blood-forming organs and certain disorders involving the immune mechanism

    ICD-10-CM Diagnosis Code Z32.01
Encounter for pregnancy test, result positive

    ICD-10-CM Diagnosis Code Z39.1
Encounter for care and examination of lactating mother

We only use Z13.0 and are always paid no matter the age.

I use z13.0 on everyone as well.
Girl, you are making this way more complicated that it is needed- I think!

Darla – so, are you using these three codes? I already knew the definition of them

Donna – do you have an issues getting paid for just using z130 for everyone

Danielle – you might be right! It’s not me though hun – we are just trying to get it right.

We use Z130 for everyone for hemoglobins and also get paid. For pregnancy tests we use z3201 for positive and z3202 for negative tests

Is everyone using CPT 85018 with the diagnosis code of Z13.0? Or 99211 (with EP modifier)?

    #25416

I use Z130 for all ages with procedure code 85018… of course I also have to put our CLIA Waiver # or sometimes get refused.
