KeymasterWe are getting a lot of refund request claims from UHC, totaling up to hundreds of dollars. Is anyone else experiencing this? If so what are you doing/able to do about it? Thanks.

KeymasterI haven’t seen anything like this… yet. When did you start receiving the requests? What type of service is it for?

KeymasterWe have received a few – but they have been less than $15 each. They have always taken it out of the next check for us.
I recommend double checking them on their denial due to DOS, and verifying their effective dates. Most of ours are around the time that the system split into three companies.

KeymasterWe have received a few as well. Paid some back but then a few months later they paid us back. Sometimes the opposite happens they take it out of the next check. UHC seems like they are playing the Atena Better Health game of flip flopping funds, which is super annoying.

KeymasterWe have had this with MoCare but it had to do with clients having a Primary Insurance but it was not stated on Emomed so I had no idea they had a primary. They asked if I wanted them to get reimbursement from insurance I agreed that’s what they needed to do.

KeymasterWe have seen this. I contacted our provider relations advocate with UHC to check into it. In our research it had to do with an error on UHC side with the contract.

KeymasterThank you all for the input; keep it coming! One of my employees is taking lead on billing after our primary biller left so I’m sure the more tips and info she could get the better! Some of this feedback makes it seem less dire; I hope so anyway! @ Stephanie; we received our first in December but it was for services rendered in July and it’s been for every service we bill for (prenatal case management, immunizations, lead, hgb, office visits).

KeymasterMelissa, our public relations advocate is coming to meet with us on April 10th, I hope she can clarify some things. Who is your rep? I have called the number listed on the refund request a few times and one person did say that it was an internal error on their end but we would still be responsible for it….

KeymasterJennifer Bax is our provider relations advocate. However, with speaking to Jennifer she had to speak with another department to help. But Jennifer was great to work with. We had an answer within a few hours. Because it was a contracting issue on UHC end- that is why another department. She told us not to send a refund and that they were going to try to stop the recoup of payments. I have noticed it has been for everything we bill for. They have tried to do take backs dating back to July 2017 as well.

KeymasterWe have not been assigned a rep for UHC. The provider relations does not have one on record for us. How did you all get one? Where are you all at – County wise…maybe I can borrow yours… lol

KeymasterI am in Morgan County. I have a little more clarification for our end. We had two contract files- one that had us non-par provider and one that was par. They are dropping the non-par and will do a claim clean up. Not sure if this is an issue with anyone else. I thought I would pass the information on.
