KeymasterI am looking for public health EMR recommendations from those of you who have one. We have demo’ed CureMD and Nightingale Notes (Champ Software). We are hoping to agree to one ASAP. If you have an EMR already, what is it, what do you like and dislike about it? Strengths and weaknesses? Among our wishes that we would like to have in an EMR: ShowMeVax integration (must have), scheduling (must have), integrated Medicaid and insurance billing, receipt capability, Quest interface, built-in faxing, Teletask included. Not all of these are complete must-haves, but if we have them all we would be very pleased.

KeymasterJoplin Health Department is also looking at EMR’s and scheduling demo’s. But best reference is from another LPHA who uses one and can give us the pro’s and con’s. Thank you!

KeymasterGrundy County is using Cure MD. We are very new at implementing it, but so far it’s been great! The support staff has been friendly and readily available.

KeymasterI hesitate to say this but I am not sure there is a “public health” EMR. We use Office Ally. It has videos for training which I learn easier by video.

KeymasterI am looking at switching from Patagonia to CureMD when our contract runs out. Their customer service and reports are awful and when we ask for help, it usually takes days for them to actually get a resolution to the issues. They always start by saying it is something we are doing wrong. For example our dispensing of vaccine report and our inventory report did not match, we were 7 off. The answer we finally got is because we must have reversed some vaccine or we didn’t put it into the system. Hello, how would it be on the dispensing report if we didn’t put it into the system!!!! When we finally found a report that helped us on our own, it showed that a vaccine had been reversed 7 times in 1 minute. I do not believe that was our error because it would be hard to do that in 1 minute. After showing them that report, I have not heard another word and that was 2 days ago. CureMD has had all positive comments when I talk with people and North Carolina Public Health uses it across the state. The only problem I have with it is that it does not have capability for inventory so it will be an additional cost and another system that will work with CureMD. Hopefully that has changed since I did the demo.

KeymasterWe use patagonia at the Franklin county health department. Its pretty user friendly for Health departments. It has ShowMeVax integration, scheduling with the ability to send reminders to patietns via text and phone call, integrated Medicaid and insurance billing, and receipt capability. But does not have Quest interface or built-in faxing to my knowledge

KeymasterWe’re muddling through a CureMD implementation right now. The software has a few oddities, but don’t they all? It’s harder for us because we’re extremely busy right now and trying to learn completely new workflows. My biggest complaint is that the registration process is designed for someone to interview the patient. We are used to giving people a form and having them fill it out and bring it back. Really slows things down for us. We will just have to adjust.
