I bill claims for Healthy Blue in Availity–where do you put the CLIA number for labs (temps)?
    thanks

This is an issue I have had since I started billing them. I was finally told, after months of having multiple cases with them, Healthy Blue Missouri doesn’t have a spot for the CLIA number in Availity, which means we can’t bill for anything that requires the CLIA number, for example hemoglobin’s. Until they fix they issue on their end, there is nothing we can do.

I have had the same issue with CLIA numbers and multiple line claims. If you want to bill single line claims you can put the CLIA number in the prior authorization box in the claim information part of the form. DO NOT put it in the prior authorization box in the Line information. I have had numerous claims paid by doing so.

According to what I have discovered the error occurs on the Availity site when you have more than one claim line. Every multiple line claim that I have filled out has been rejected by Availity and Healthy Blue never receives the claim submitted.

I have talked to both Healthy Blue and Availity about the issue. They said they were looking into the issue and trying to figure out how to fix it.

Ok I will try that. Thanks

Reimbursement is so small I don’t bother with it.

I found that Healthy Blue was getting my claims but rejecting everything for labs. Still learning lab billing does anybody have resources? We perform some CLIA waived in-house which they have sent reimbursement on. For labs sent to Quest or LabCorp how do you handle?

Most of my billing is specific to STI/STD labs but clarification on CLIA waived and billing when sent to outside lab would be helpful.

We don’t bill for the labs when they are sent to an outside lab. The lab bills. We use LabCorp.
We charge for office visit $25 to do the blood draw and send labs out.

Thank you so much for the feedback!
