KeymasterWe have not contracted with Medicare as of yet. We are beginning the process. I was curious if any other Health Department has gone through this process and any pointers for this process or if you have decided not to- why you didn’t contract with them.
Thanks!

KeymasterMelissa,
Franklin County is in the process of it as well. The last I have heard from my director is that it was sent off, and awaiting results. It is a complete headache, not even going to lie. We have been dealing with going back/forth to correct corrections since December. I have worked on the application for a few hours with my director yet, she’s completed the majority of it. I am hoping the application goes through on this round, so that we can service all of the community. If you need anything further, please do not hesitate!
🙂

KeymasterJackson County Health is a Roster Biller only. Is that how you will be contracted?

KeymasterI believe we will be doing roster billing.

KeymasterI think you have several issues going on. First you need to get access to the C-Snap website to check eligibility- if you are getting the denial for other insurance the patient probably has a Medicare Advantage plan and you will have to bill that plan, not straight Medicare in order to get paid. Our software has told us that the denial for primary/secondary is because we need to do the EDI/EFT paperwork so Medicare knows you are filing claims thru a clearing house/software. Your last denial is probably related to not having completed that paperwork also. Something is probably not going correctly from your software to your clearing house to Medicare. Our Medicare is going fine and we have done the EDI/EFT paperwork but I have the same errors you do with Railroad Medicare and am in the process of doing the additional paperwork.

KeymasterYou can bill COVID immunizations, too. We took in a lot of revenue from Medicare due to immunizations of Medicare patients.

KeymasterIf you want to bill for anything other than flu, pneumonia and COVID you will need to apply to Medicare for a fee for service provider. We bill a few women’s health.

KeymasterThank you both!
Yes we do bill for COVID as well and currently do not offer women’s health
I was more thinking the other immunizations- we have a lot of Medicare clients request the Shingrix vaccine- but now that I am typing this- all other vaccines are covered through their Drug Plan when enrolled in Medicare so they need to go to a pharmacy. Let me know if I am incorrect on that? Thanks again!August 18, 2022 at 8:24 am #18227Missouri Public Health Association
KeymasterMedicare Part B will NOT pay for Shingrix. They will not pay for Tdap either. We use TransactRX for Part D billing. You have to really watch it though because every patient’s Part D, if they have it, will pay differently and some of the copays are pretty high.
